“Everywhere you look, everywhere you go…” was a song heard very often in my house when I was a kid. Full House represented everything I loved… friends, family, fun, and all that seemed perfect to me. To this day, hearing that theme song still gives me goosebumps. I find it so interesting how merely a song can trigger so many memories and feelings from so long ago. Something about the family feel to this show made feel very warm and tingly inside. I guess growing up without siblings, it was nice to have this show to watch every day. Those three adorable kids were like virtual siblings I could always count on to be there when I got home from school. At risk of sounding like a cliché, being a child of divorced parents, (which unlike nowadays, was not the so-called norm) it was also nice for me to see another family which was considered to be unconventional. So really, in a way, this show was light years ahead of its time, I mean let’s face it, three fathers with three children was not exactly the ‘white picket fence’ picture of a family back then.
Stephanie, played by Jodie Sweetin, was always a favorite of mine, mainly because of her cuteness and sense of humor. The innocence and naiveté on that little face as she said “How rude!” always made me smile. Another favorite of mine was Kimmy Gibbler whose weirdness and tendency to stand out was quite nice to see. She was the opposite to their happy family routine, which made for a nice contrast. These two characters were also a favorite of my Dad’s back then (and probably still to this day hehe). This show was always something we shared, as watching it together every night was our special time. Being quite the Daddy’s Girl at that age, this connection always meant a lot to me. Even now we still share inside jokes from the show, cute quotes and catch phrases mostly.
So from all this rambling, I’m sure you can tell how happy I was when Fuller House came out recently. From the moment I heard about it from a coworker, I was counting down the days till it would air. Sadly this meant that when it did finally become available, I binge watched the entire season over the weekend. Thank goodness there will eventually be a 2nd season! It was so great to see the characters all grown up from 20 years ago! It was like being reunited with old friends. Although I must say, it took some getting used to… I mean, watching little innocent Stephanie dirty dance with men at a club was kind of a shocker. I almost wanted to scream, “Stephanie, you should be at home in bed!”
