Donuts + coffee = definite happy place for Zoey.
I have been to the amazingly awesome place ‘Suzy Q Doughnuts’ a few times now, and I must say it is always a blogger-ific experience. After hearing several people rave about this place, I figured I should check it out a few months ago. These donuts…wow! They are gourmet and delicious, so add coffee into the mix and you’ve got Zoey as a regular, possibly also with friends and family. After much debating my first time there, I finally decided on 6 types for my take-home box. Based on the picture above, here they are in order: maple bacon, carrot cake, Bangkok peanut, chocolate and peanut, cinnamon toast, and happy goat (mocha). Located in Hintonburg since 2012, this gem of a place has a very homey and friendly environment.
I am still in awe of the beautiful taste every time I go there. I think my relationship with doughnuts goes way back to when I was a young kid.. it was most definitely love at first sight (for me anyways, not sure how they felt). Without getting into boring details, I was a frequent flier at Cheo when I was young, mostly to visit for checkups, and as it goes with most kids, I did not normally enjoy these checkups. So as a reward, my lovely parents always let me have a treat from the cafeteria afterwards, and so I chose none other than a yummy doughnut. What else? I remember to this day, the feeling of blurry vision after the eye doctor and still thoroughly enjoying that sweet mushy taste with the crunchy side of sprinkles. I can still smell the sugary goodness.
As I got older, this doughnut appreciation always stayed with me, and Tim Horton’s became my place of choice. Suzy Q Doughnuts, with its gourmet collection of unique flavors, is definitely now at the top of my favorite doughnut places list. Even providing an at-home delivery service, this place is so amazing! I could order 24 doughnuts for $20 a day in advance, which is becoming a very enticing idea for any upcoming birthday, event, holiday, Tuesday, etc… hehe. This place has me hooked. Sorry Timmy’s, my tastes have changed. You are still a favorite of mine, but just not the only one any longer.
