I’ve always loved eating at diners / delis, probably since I was a kid and watched the movie Grease for the first time. This was only the start of my new obsession, always being reinforced with all the popular teen series out there… for some reason all these show have that one diner where their characters spend their days and all the drama happens. I don’t want to get into too many details and bore all of you, but some examples are the diner by the pier in The O.C., the Peach Pit in Beverly Hills, 90210, and Tom’s Restaurant in Seinfeld. Also, there’s just something about all the old school decor and yummy foods that makes me feel right at home. I’m sure my mom can attest to all of this, mainly because as a teenager, I often asked her to check out various diners all over the city with me. Thanks, Mom! 🙂
Then, about a year ago, I was introduced to a diner/deli that I had only heard about but never seen before. It was love at first site! Dunn’s has it all… delicious uniquely flavored foods (i.e. smoked meat poutine, my fave), super cool decor, comfy diner-type booths, and a homey feel to it. The first time I went there, I was with my mom of course, and I ate the smoked meat poutine I mentioned. It’s dishes like this and their all day breakfast options that make this place a favorite for Zoey! There are four different locations in Ottawa, the newest one being on Merivale, which is where I have been several times already. Another location is on Bank Street.. I stumbled upon this one with my dad last night and we wound up having dinner there and making some great memories. With their two other locations on Elgin and Dalhousie, Dunn’s also gets all the hung-over club-goers in downtown Ottawa… all that yummy food will prevent the world’s worst hangover, just what the doctor ordered hehe.
