Wow, some things really never change. As I was watching this super exciting sneak preview of the Gilmore Girls revival (video at the bottom of this post), I got really nostalgic. Just hearing that familiar theme song, I seriously got goosebumps. So goose-bumpy, in fact, that I decided to blog about this news again. What started out as only a rumor is now official… the Gilmore Girls comeback episodes are scheduled for Netflix arrival on November 25th! It will be called Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life and will have four 90-minute episodes, each one representing a different season in Stars Hollow.
Also really exciting, Melissa McCarthy will be back on the show too, reprising her famous role as Sookie St. James!
This wasn’t for sure at first, I was kinda concerned to be honest… the show just wouldn’t have been the same without her! But, even having such a busy schedule with all the movies she’s been doing, she’s still coming back! Sookie, Lorelai, Rory, Luke, Emily, Logan, Dean, Jesse, Kirk, Paris… all of our old favorites will be there, it’s so very exciting. With the preview out now and all the stars on set filming, it’s definitely becoming more and more real. From a ‘CBC News’ article that I read, it seems like we’re not the only one who are happy about all this news.
Everything was like, `Oh, here’s the chemistry we had from the very first day we met,’ and it was just a joy to revisit,”
A few more things I wanna mention:
- Rory’s iPhone! I absolutely love seeing how the latest technology is always shown in these TV shows. Back in 2000 when the show started, cell phones were definitely not as popular or as high-tech as now.
- Lorelai and Rory talking about Amy Schumer… so funny! New show… new up -to-date references too.
- I’ve always been a huge fan of the Lorelai/Rory chemistry (they also remind me of me and my mom hehe); these two have such an amazing dynamic when acting together! I think they really make their audience believe they are mother and daughter.
- There will be a separate episode for each season, just like the lyrics to the Carole King song “You’ve Got a Friend … Winter, spring, summer or fall, all you have to do is call!” Carole King is also the singer of the Gilmore Girls theme song
