Star struck

Why is it that we all get so crazy when it comes to celebrities? We seem to forget that they too, are just people like us. There’s a thing called ‘Celebrity Worship Syndrome’ (yes, that’s actually a thing!) where people can become obsessed with the celebrities they admire. We’ve all heard about how dangerous this can become, people maybe even stalking their favorite celebrities. Scary, right? Yes, this is rare of course, but let’s be honest, we can all become very passionate about those we look up to. I’ll admit, I was very into some famous people when I was younger… I went through a Lindsay Lohan phase, an Ashlee Simpson phase, and well I’m still in a very long-lasting Julia Roberts phase. I also can’t hide the fact that I’m actually really into Robin Tunney from The Mentalist right now… what an amazing show/character dynamic! So, truth be told, I too, am guilty of idolizing celebrities … just not to the level of dangerous obsession. I do understand the fascination with celebrities, but it’s easy to forget that they are just people like the rest of us. Just because they act for a living, doesn’t mean they don’t deserve to live their lives in peace.

An example! Lucy Hale (who plays Aria on Pretty Little Liars), has been harrased on social media lately simply because she didn’t join her co-stars on a trip! The poor girl! I put a screenshot of what she posted on her Twitter account recently. This shows how much the gossip has been hurting her. I mean, what on earth does it matter why she didn’t go on a trip? Celebrity obsession… harassment, what have you, in a word… sucks!
