My ‘Charmed’ Past Few Months

image

So, this blog of mine is mostly used for me to ramble about things that are on my mind. Quite enjoyable for all of you, I’m sure. Well, lately I’ve been thinking a lot about the TV show Charmed. Gen and I have watched the whole series in the past few months. Eight whole seasons, it was quite the project! A project that I thoroughly enjoyed, mind you. I seriously really hate when a series comes to an end! I feel like I lost a friend. Charmed was such a good friend to me, so loyal and fulfilling. We had gotten very close over these past months. They will be greatly missed. Reunion show, anyone?!

What’s funny though, is that if you had asked me a few years ago, to watch this show, I probably would have laughed in your face. “A magical, supernatural show? Who, me? Are ya kidding?” I would have said. But, than came Gen. It’s amazing how much a relationship can broaden your interests! Felt the same way with the show Buff the Vampire Slayer, loved both shows! For those of you who haven’t seen Charmed before, it’s basically about three sisters who find out they have magical powers and spend the next eight years fighting demons and such. I mean sure, it may be slightly cheesy and / or old-school in some ways, but it was also weirdly addictive. I think it’s not only all the suspense and crazy intense story lines, but also the super strong bond between the sisters that really got me hooked. Okay, it’s mainly the sisterly bond.

But, there is one thing I’d like to rant about a little. The whole thing that happened after season 3… they killed off one of the sisters! Shannen Doherty who was the oldest sister Prue, gets killed and that’s the last we see of her. They don’t even really take the time to explain exactly what happened! Yes, she is replaced by another long-lost sister, which is cool, but still! There are so many rumors out there about what exactly happened… drama between the actresses, fights, ultimatums, the list goes on. Quite frankly, it doesn’t really matter what the real reason is, I simply just think it sucks. The entire show changed after season 3, whole different dynamic in my opinion. Now, I might be biased because I know Shannen Doherty from way back during the Beverly Hills 90210 days, but I really did like it better at the beginning. Funny how one actress can change so much.

Anyway, the whole sisterly bond thing is really touching… Alyssa Milano, Holly Marie-Combs, and Rose McGowen are also really great actresses. Personally, out of these four characters, I think I relate most to Alyssa Milano’s character… Phoebe is one of the youngest, a very funny and cool character. But, I think what I relate to the most are her empath powers… being able to always feel other people’s emotions is something I feel like I share with her. Granted, it’s not a supernatural power for me, but it’s still there. Holly Marie-Combs (also known to me from Pretty Little Liars) plays the organized, responsible and most level-headed sister, along with Prue who was the original eldest sister. Then, Rose McGowen is the newer addition to the family, the spunky, persistent youngest sister. I definitely love the character development in this show, made me feel very connected to all of them!

Hope  you enjoyed this particular
ramble of mine!
