Hello all my beautiful readers,
I come to you today with a few funny, but very real and serious thoughts. I was doing one of my favorite past-times earlier tonight… watching Ellen’s monologues on Ellentube. My goodness, I love that woman! In this one video that really stood out, she spent a few minutes talking about today’s children and their cell phones. Apparently, the average age a kid is when they get their first cell phone is 6! I mean, seriously?! What on earth would a 6 year old do with a cell phone? I remember getting my first cell when I was… I think 14. I had just started high school and my parents figured I should have one for safety reasons, walking to and from school and such. I think this makes sense, no? Yes, it was a different time back then, and cell phones weren’t as huge as they are now, but still. Call me old-school, but I do think that young kids should spend their time being more interactive, rather than having their face buried in a phone. I find it scary nowadays, people seriously can never be without their phones. I remember back in the day, when a kid’s worst nightmare would have been showing up at school with no clothes. Now, I really think it’s changed to showing up at school with no phone! Can you imagine the chaos? Just the other day, Gen and I had two friends over to our house, and at one point, I realized that three out of four of us were sitting there on our phones! Sure, we were sharing videos and stuff, but I still think it’s crazy! That is what our lives have come to!
Ok, note to self, new goal: Try to go one hour a day without reaching for your phone. Maybe increase this everyday… let’s see how far I can go!
Do you guys think I can do it?!
