Maggie’s Plan was such a great movie to watch. This Woody Allan-ish movie shows the lives of a few unique, quirky people living in New York, and does it really well. Julianne Moore (one of my all time fave actors; Nine Months, The Kids are Alright, Still Alice, and Carrie are just a few of her masterpieces) plays an awesome role as an uptight academic married to a writer, Ethan Hawke. With this marriage falling apart, Hawke’s character falls for his coworker Maggie (Greta Gerwig) and leaves Moore to start a new family. After years of being together and having a kid, they too fall apart. Naive control freak Maggie plots for her husband to go back to his ex. Super weird storyline makes for such a cute movie, my stomach actually hurt afterwards from all the laughing. I was especially in awe with Julianne Moore’s acting… some weird European / French / Danish accent, so well done! This actor has done all her oh-so-different roles with such talent that I almost forget it’s the same person.
Oh, and a surprise twist at the end… love when that happens! Highly recommend the movie!
