Starting in October of this year, a new TV sitcom is coming out, featuring a plot about a stay-at-home dad learning to cope with his wife going back to work full time. Spending all his time with the kids and doing ‘mom stuff’ definitely turns out harder than he originally thought it would be. Man with a Plan will be gracing us with its presence on CBS, and will be starring none other than the oh-so-famous Matt LeBlanc… well, I know him better as Joey from F.R.I.E.N.D.S! This news is so very exciting to me, mostly because I don’t think I’ve seen him in anything since the attempt at a F.R.I.E.N.D.S spin-off, Joey, which was not the biggest success, sadly. Lasting two seasons, LeBlanc did reprise his role as Joey on a show starring him living with his sister and nephew in Las Angeles, still trying to make it as an actor. Although I personally really enjoyed watching this show, I guess not a lot of other people agreed, because of it getting cancelled so quickly.
I found it interesting when reading about this new show, that the reader mentioned how this new character played by Matt LeBlanc is similar to the role of Joey Tribbiani. Now, I must say, at first this made me pretty happy, because I do miss seeing Joey Tribbiani on television, but I quickly started rethinking things. The whole idea of an actor playing a similar role more than once always makes me wonder… is it because they have been typecast, is it because they may not be as talented as I had thought, or is it just to please fans? Unfortunately, I have seen this happen before, for example with Jennifer Aniston, who seems to often land similar roles. Of course this could just be my perception, but I feel like I mostly see her play not-as-serious roles… this could be for many reasons, but it’s always interesting to notice. Anyways, seeing LeBlanc again in this trailer made me really happy, and this show looks pretty funny.
